Using the Mind for Concept Mapping

The mind is a powerful tool to assist men in doing daily activities normally and adequately. Concept mapping is an efficient equipment that uses the mind in order to enhance different types of learning and thinking which are required in schools and universities. In order to make a map, you have to write down the main idea on the center of the page.

The central idea may be in terms of a phrase or word that is placed at the center and wait for drops of branches grow around it that represents sub-ideas which have grew out of the central idea. Concept mapping is a useful technique in taking down notes and being represented in a graph. Concept networks are referred to as knowledge maps. The different networks usually consist of links and nodes. Links are the ones representing the relationship between different concepts and nodes are the ones representing the different concepts.

Concepts are sometimes linked with labels. Links can be in forms of uni-directional, bi-directional, or non-directional. Generally, links and concepts can be categorized in such a way that they can be specified, associated and divided in categories like temporal or even causal relations.

Why concept mapping?

1. It can generate numerous ideas like brainstorming
2. It can design a more complex idea that makes sense
3. It can communicate ideas which are complicated and complex
4. It can assess one’s understanding and even diagnose for any misunderstanding
5. It can help learning through explicitly integrating old and new knowledge

What are the advantages of Concept Mapping?

It triggers the brain to produce more and at the same time making exercising it to be more alert and understanding of the entire concept. Technically speaking, concept mapping can be seen in most cases of brainstorming. Brainstorming and mapping can both be regarded to as thing which can induce new material like viewpoints and interpretations.

However, mapping can rely greatly on a random input of intentional sequence, on the other hand, brainstorming is a result of gushes of blood being spilled out of one’s mind and create out-of-this-world and zany ideas which can be connected to the center point. Brainstorming demands a lateral way of thinking whereas concept mapping provides convergent thinking opportunity to fit the ideas together in one piece of central matter. The moment you get the hand of it, you will be more aware that the technique is apparent.

Why do people stick with concept mapping rather than engaging in different kinds of diagram or outline? Here are the advantages…

1. Allows the person to see all the basic yet important information in just one page.

2. Defines clearly the main idea through positioning it at the middle represents something quite significant.

3. Allows the user to realize that links makes sense. This will be helpful during essay writings and creative output.

4. Enables the person to point out clearly the relation of important branching data.

5. Allows new “added” information to penetrate without messing up the page or purposely squeezing the ideas in a small space.

6. Enables the person to look at a certain situation in a several different ways and doesn’t portray an idea locked laterally.

7. Complex relationships among giving out of ideas become more evident.

8. Lastly, it allows the person to see material gaps, contradictions and even paradoxes in an easier manner. Through mind mapping formulation of questions encourages the person’s creativity and discovery.

Joining in Love and Relationships

Joining in love and relationships take effort to make it work. When a couple joins in love and relationship it starts out with sparks flying and gradually works up to slowness of passion. When the passion in a relationship slows, one or the other often feels that love is no long in existence in some cases. Thus, women often require attention slightly different than most men do, however men require attention to in order to feel that fleshly necessity called love.

Love nowadays is demeaning and is, grounded often on sexuality. When the sexuality weakens the couple often slows their expressions of attention, love and passion. Real love never dies. When a couple are in real love they will last for years, by communicating, respecting each other, trusting each other, caring for each other and so forth. Rarely will real love relationships base love on sex and slow the process of giving throughout the relationship.

Examples of real love are, illustrated in the Titanic experience. During the sinking of the ship, the men put down the emergency boats only allowing women and children aboard first. During the round up and at the final draw, one woman stood beside her husband and refused to board the boats without her husband accompany her. She stated in this instance that if her husband was going to die, then so was she. Some people find this gesture foolish; however, the woman stood beside her mind until death did them apart, one of the vows of marriage.

True love never ceases. When two people love each other, they will literally die for each other. If a bullet is flying in the direction of someone you love, true love will step in the way of that bullet, unselfishly. Unbelievers may think this is foolish; however, Jesus was a fine example that gave his life over for all humankind throughout the world, regardless of the person’s background in life.

When two people join in love and relationships (marriage), they are making a statement. The statement is that through love the two will fight through storms, love through sunny days, and stick by each other’s side until death claims their love. If adultery occurs throughout the arrangement, the disrespected party has the right to leave the relationship. Thus, if the partner is prone to committing sexual acts outside of the relationship, superficial love is often the case. Therefore, adulterous relationships are short lived.

Some relationships last even if adultery is involved when the disrespected mate decides to forgive. Still, throughout the relationship, trust must be re-earned or the relationship will not last. Often adultery leads to disrespect of the mate, lack of trust, failure in communication, and so forth. The disrespecting mate shows through the behaviors that he/she lacks the elements to love someone truly.

Some relationships are built on love/hate. When the two join in love and relationship, they soon learn that hate and love consumes their relationship. Abusive relationships are one of the examples of love/hate relationships, where one loves and the other hates. The relationships that act out of violence often lead to un-repairable harm and/or death. Therefore, superficial love often strings the two together backed with threats. The abusive partner often threatens to kill or harm someone closest to the mate, or else threatens to kill the mate if he/she leaves the relationship.

Superficial relationships may include couples joining to avoid loneliness. Often the two have failed to accept them self, and feel a sense of emptiness inside. The hole they are seeking to fill is often never filled, since the two in the relationship have not discovered them self. In other words, voids consume the relationship and overtime when/if one or the other finds them self, they may find they wasted time in an empty relationship built on threads instead of love and often the relationship will breakdown.

Before committing your self to a relationship, think long and hard about who you are and what you want out of life. Commitments are part of love and relationships that make any arrangement work.

Pets Help Keep Stress at Bay

You might be going through a rough time, such as the death of a loved one or a divorce. The stress, at times, seems difficult to tolerate. You want to find a way to deal with the stress effectively, but you’re uncertain of what your options might be. Then, on your daily walk, you spot a dog, and you wonder if this is the stress-reliever you’ve been looking for.

Psychologists tell us that pets can be quite beneficial to our mental health. They can provide unconditional love in a time of uncertainty. They can help to distract us from the problems of the day, giving us a new reason to go on living. And it can be quite therapeutic caring for an animal.

One obvious advantage to owning a pet is companionship. A dog or cat will always be at your heel, no matter what kind of tumultuous events you face in your life. Animals tend to be content with very little, so you don’t have to spend a great deal of time trying to please your pet.

Just petting an animal’s fur can be a good means of reducing stress. The feel of the fur can awaken in you memories of simpler times, when your stress level was much lower. It’s possible that having a pet around could even reduce your heart rate or your blood pressure.

If you owned a pet when you were young, you should not be too stressed out about caring for an animal. As long as you provide the basics—food, water, shelter, play time, and regular trips to the veterinarian, your animal should be happy and healthy. If you decide to buy a dog, your regular walks with your canine companion can be quite therapeutic. There is something so relaxing about walking a dog, especially on a crisp autumn day. You might find that the walks help you to “clear your head,” making it easier for you to cope with your problems.

When looking for a pet, you want your search to be as stress-free as possible. Talk to friends and neighbors and see if they know of anyone who’s selling or giving away a pet. You might also consult your local newspaper for ads for pets for sale. You might also consider rescuing a pet from a pound. It can be quite rewarding, knowing that you helped to save a life.

If you don’t want to have to spend so much time caring for a pet, you might consider a cat, a canary, or even a goldfish. Any pet can brighten your home, helping you to keep stress at bay. You might find that your outlook brightens as soon as you bring a pet into your home.

Say you’ve never owned a pet before. You might initially be concerned about how well you will fare as a pet-owner. In such a case, it’s helpful to educate yourself. Check out books from your local library on pet care, or see if your local humane society offers informational packets. The better educated you are, the more prepared you will be to be a pet owner.

If you live in an apartment that does not permit pets, you might consider pet-sitting at someone else’s home. This can be a welcome break from your normal routine, helping to alleviate your stress. You might also consider volunteering to walk a friend’s or relative’s dog. You’ll experience the fulfillment of volunteering your time—and you’ll make a new animal friend in the process.

In time, you might find that your pet becomes a part of your family—a treasured companion in good times and bad. You’ll learn to recognize your pets’ likes and dislikes, and you’ll probably forge a strong bond. In time, you might decide to add another dog or another cat to the family. Holiday time and other celebrations can become more festive with a pet in the house. In addition, you should find that your stress level decreases a great deal, having a pet around to keep you company. Just having a creature there to entertain you can be quite therapeutic. You may be amazed at the changes you’ll undergo, as you become accustomed to being a pet owner.
